These videos and picture tutorials will show you how to correctly set up and get the most out of the Bodhi5 software.

CREATE MANUAL UPDATE LISTS

These instructions will explain how to update a group of symbols to a directory using Bodhi5. Bodhi5 allows you to select (tick) individual symbols from the exchange lists and save them to a file. This file can then be filtered into a directory in your Distribution lists.
Please Note: this is a static list created by you. If you want to add more symbols or remove symbols from this list you will need to edit the list yourself.

The instructions below cover the following steps:

Creating the list of symbols - This takes you through ticking the list of symbols from the product list and saving them to a file.
Creating a directory that includes this list of symbols - These instructions show you how to create a directory then load the list of symbols into it.
Making changes to your list of symbols - If you want to remove or add symbols to this list you must do it yourself.

Creating the list of symbols
The first step in this process is to create a list of the symbols you want to add to your directory. In this tutorial we will select five (5) symbols from the Australian Securities Exchange's (ASX) Equity list.

  1. Open Bodhi5 and click on the Configure button.

    Bodhi5: Click Configure

  2. The Configuration screen will appear. In the Finance tab, double-click on Australia then Australian Securities Exchange then Equity to open the list of Equities trading on the ASX.

    Bodhi5: Australian Securities Exchange

  3. Select the following five ASX symbols by ticking the box next to each code: 1AD; 1AG; 1AL; 1ST & 3DP.

    Bodhi5: Ticked symbols

  4. From the menu, select Tick then Save. The Save Tick List window will appear.

    Bodhi5: Save Ticked List

  5. Enter the name MyStocks in the drop-down box and exit [x] the window. This list has now been saved.
  6. Exit [x] the ASX Equity window. You can now go to the next step: Creating a directory that includes this file.

Creating a directory that includes this list of symbols
The next step is to create a directory and filter this list into it. If you followed the steps about continue from step 3 below.

  1. Open Bodhi5 and click on the Configure button.

    Bodhi5: Configuration Screen

  2. The Configuration screen will appear. Click on the Custom button to display the Distribution screen.

    Bodhi5: Custom Button

  3. If the Profile is set to Normal or Default then go to File>Copy Selected Profile as these two profiles can not be edited.

    Bodhi5: Create a new profile

  4. Enter the name of the new profile in the box provided then click the OK button.

    Bodhi5: Changing the profile

This will copy the current profile and allow you to edit/add directories.
  5. You may choose to keep some of these directories or delete [Path>Delete] them all and start from scratch. Any directories that are in blue are active, which means they are using a format that you have selected (from the Configuration window) and therefore will be updated.

    Bodhi5: MyList profile

  6. We are now going to make a MetaStock directory called C:\Data\MetaStock\MyStocks*. To do this go to Path>Insert>MetaStock.
Type the directory - C:\Data\MetaStock\MyStocks into the Insert Path box then click the OK button to add it to the list.
Note: The MetaStock format requires a directory ended in an asterix (*) this is due to the format being limited to the amount of files it can contain per directory. Other formats do not have this limitation.

    Bodhi5: Adding a MetaStock directory

  7. We now need to ensure this directory only contains the MyStocks file of stocks. To do this, select our newly created directory (so it is highlighted) then click the Filter tab.

    Bodhi5: Filtering MyStocks list

  8. The Filter tab has a list of options we can add filtering to. To filter the MyStocks symbols into this directory we are going to use the Symbol filter.
  9. Double-click on the word Symbol: to display the Symbol Stage Editor screen.

    Bodhi5: Symbol Stage Editor

  10. Select in file from the first drop-down box then type the full name of your file including the directory it is found in into the second box (i.e. C:\Software\Infosoft\Bodhi5\Main\Text\MyStocks.tic). If you installed Bodhi5 to the default directory your file will be saved in a C:\Software\Infosoft\Bodhi5\Main\Text directory as MyStocks.tic. All tick files created in Bodhi5 end with the file extension .tic.

Bodhi5: Enter the MyStocks file into the Symbol Stage Editor

Click the Append button and exit [x] the screen. You will notice that the Symbol: filter now displays:
+C:\Software\Infosoft\Bodhi5\Main\Text\MyStocks.tic. This means that only symbols that are included in this file will be filtered into this directory.

    Bodhi5: Symbol = MyStocks.tic

Please Note: if you have entered the wrong file name or directory into this box the procedure will not work. Make sure you have typed the filename in correctly using capitals and spaces (as required) and backslashes \ between directories.
  11. We will also need to set the Source filter so it only downloads data from the ASX. This step is very important if you download multiple exchanges as a lot of them have identical codes. Double-click on the word Source: to display the Source Stage Editor screen.

    Bodhi5: Source Stage Editor

  12. Select is equal to from the first drop-down box and Australian Securities Exchange from the second drop-down box then click the Append button and exit [x] the screen. You will notice that the Source: filter now displays =ASX.

    Bodhi5: Source = ASX

  13. This directory is now configured correctly, you can exit [x] all the screens back to the main screen then click the Catchup button to create this directory.

Making changes to your list of symbols
If you decide that you want to add more symbols or remove symbols from this directory you will need to make the changes to the MyStocks file you created in Bodhi5.

  1. Open Bodhi5 and click on the Configure button.

    Bodhi5: Click Configure

  2. The Configuration screen will appear. In the Finance tab, double-click Australia then Australian Securities Exchange then Equity to open the list of symbols.

    Bodhi5: Australian Securities Exchange

  3. If you currently have symbols ticked you will need to save these as another ticked list (refer above) as to do this successfully we need to start with 0 symbols ticked.

Bodhi5: ASX Equity List with ticked symbols

  4. To untick all symbols from the menu, select Tick then Clear. This will set the Ticked number back to zero (0).

    Bodhi5: Clear Tick List

  5. To open our MyStocks tick list select Tick then Load from the menu. The Ticklists window will appear.

    Bodhi5: Select Tick List

  6. Click on MyStocks then exit [x] the window. The MyStocks list will be selected. You can now tick or untick the symbols you require.

    Bodhi5: Load Tick List

  7. Once you've made the changes to this file you need to save it by selecting Tick then Save from the menu. Select the MyStocks option from the drop-down menu then exit [x] the Save Tick List box.

    Bodhi5: Edit Tick List

  8. Your changes have been made. When you next click on Catchup Bodhi5 will add any extra symbols you have chosen to the directory and stop updating any symbols you removed.
