CREATE A LIST OF CANDIDATES

Candidates are a list of securities you have selected to use with your analysis. This tutorial will show you how to create a filtered list and static list of candidates.
A filtered list is a dynamic function that creates a list that includes candidates that may change periodically where a static list is a set list of candidates that can only be changed by the user.

Creating a Filtered List:
A filtered list of candidates is a dynamic list of securities that may change periodically as you update your database. For example, if you create a filter for the S&P ASX Top 100 it will use the current symbols that make up that index. Therefore, the symbols in this list will change as the underlying constituents in the index are changed. A filter is the opposite of a static list.
This example will show you how to create a filter for equities from the Australian Securities Exchange that are classified in the Capital Goods Industry Group as well as being constituents of the S&P ASX All Ordinaries index.

  1. If you are adding this filter to a current analysis, go to step 2. Otherwise, click on the New Analysis button. This will create a new empty analysis in the Analysis drop-down box which is given a default name like: Analysis Created 3/01/18 2:39:31 PM.

  3. The Exchange Filter screen will appear. To select all the equity symbols from the Australian Securities Exchange, that are included in the S&P ASX All Ordinaries index but are classified in the Capital Goods Industry Sector, set the following:
    Exchange = Australian Securities Exchange
    Market = Equity
    Security Type = Select All
    Groups = S&P ASX All Ordinaries
    Sector = Capital Goods Industry Group
    Hint: to de-select all the sectors, click the first tick box.

  4. Click the OK button. Your filter will be added to the Candidate Selection Rules table and the Candidate List will be populated with the current equities from the Australian Securities Exchange that are constituents of the All Ordinaries but are classified as Capital Goods - a list of approximately 15 symbols.

If you created a new analysis you now need to finish it by building criteria which will be used to analyse these candidates. If you already have criteria, simply click the Run button to analysis these securities.

Creating a Static List:
A static list of candidates is a list of securities that the user has selected. This list will not change unless the user adds or deletes securities from it. The user may use a static list to create a candidate list of the securities in his portfolio or save a list of results from a previous analysis. A static list is the opposite of a filtered list.
This example will show you how to create a static list of securities using two different equity exchanges (Australian Securities Exchange & New Zealand Stock Exchange).

  1. If you are adding this list to a current analysis, go to step 2. Otherwise, click on the New Analysis button. This will create a new empty analysis in the Analysis drop-down box which is given a default name like: Analysis Created 3/01/18 2:39:31 PM.
