AmiBroker is a charting program created by AmiBroker.com. It uses a plugin to access data from Bodhi6's MetaStock format. It does not alter the data in any way but leaves it in place and builds its own separate directory structure through which it reads the MetaStock data.

These instructions will take you through two processes:
• Configuring Bodhi6 to use the MetaStock data format.
• Configuring AmiBroker to read the Bodhi6 MetaStock directories.

Configuring Bodhi6 for AmiBroker

1. Install Bodhi6 using the installation instructions.
2. Once installed, launch Bodhi6. If this didn't happen automatically when you finished installation click the Bodhi6 icon on your desktop or select it from your Windows® Start menu (Start ➔ Infosoft ➔ Bodhi6)
3. Enter your details including email address and computer name then click the OK button.

   
   Bodhi6 can be installed on 2 computers with the same Registration details so it is important to give them individual Machine names.

4. Click the Register button to add your registration details.

   

   If you haven't received these details, click the Contact button and phone the number on the screen.

   

5. Enter your registrations details provided by JustData. Connect to the Internet then click the OK button.

   

   Bodhi6 will fetch your registration key from the JustData server.

   

6. If you have entered the details correctly a window will appear saying you are Registered. Click OK to continue.

   

7. The analysis software screen will be displayed.

   

8. Select AmiBroker and any other formats you require from the list of analysis software, then click [x]. By selecting AmiBroker, Bodhi6 will automatically choose the MetaStock format.

   

9. Bodhi6 is now configured to download your chosen data into the software format/s you've selected.

   

10. If you have purchased historical data, choose Tool > History > Load from the menu. This may take a few hours depending on the speed of your Internet connection and processing power of your PC.

    

    If you are trialing the software you can download 6-months of history.
    1. Click the Configure button.

       

    2. The Configuration screen will appear displaying the exchanges you are registered to download.

       

    3. Using your mouse, right-click over the word Active to display the Reset option and select Received.

       

    4. The Received date box will appear. This will be automatically set to a date 6-months in the past. Click the OK button to download 6-months of data or change this date using the drop-down box.
       Please Note: you will not be able to download data earlier than this date.

         

    5. When you're satisfied with the date you have chosen, click the OK button.
    6. Exit the Configuration screen by clicking on the [x] button.
11. Click the Catchup button to get the current data.

    

    If you are trialing the software click the Close button to continue downloading data.
    *If your antivirus displays a message, you need to allow for Bodhi6 data to download.

You have successfully configured Bodhi6 and imported 6-months of data into a MetaStock format (c:\Data\MetaStock\ASX0 directory). From now on, you will only need to press the Catchup button in Bodhi6 each night to retrieve the latest data. The free trial will run for 30-days after installation.

Configure AmiBroker for Bodhi6

1. Create an empty Windows directory called Amistock (c:/Amistock). This can be done by using Microsoft® Windows File Explorer.
   1. Open Windows® File Explorer by right-clicking on the Start button then selecting File Explorer from the menu.
   2. Double-click on your C:\ drive, then go to the Home menu and click the New Folder button.

      
      Enter the new directory Amistock then press the Enter key on the keyboard.

2. Open AmiBroker and go to File > New > Database.

   

   The Database settings dialog box will appear.

   

3. Browse to the new directory you just created then click the Save button.

   

   You can tick the Load this database at startup box if this is to be your default directory, then click the Create button.

   

4. After the program recognises the new directory you need to inform AmiBroker that this database uses the MetaStock plugin - select MetaStock® data Plug-in from the Data source drop-down menu.

   

5. Select Enable from the Local data storage as it will speed some accesses (AmiBroker will temporarily store recently accessed data locally in addition to reading the MetaStock files) but this is not essential.

   

   Enter 2000 for the number of bars to load (7 years of data) AmiBroker is fast at opening this amount of information.
   Set the Base time interval to End-Of-Day data. Now we need to tell AmiBroker which MetaStock directories form your new database, so click the Configure button.
6. The Configure MetaStock® data plug-in screen will appear.

   

   Click the Add folder button and browse to each of the MetaStock directories, clicking the Add folder button for each of them - they will have their own separate MetaStock Master files to open.

   
   Double-click on the first directory to display the MASTER file.

   
   Select the MASTER file then click the Open button.

   
   This path is now added to the plug-in. Click the Add folder button to add another directory.

   
   Navigate to the next directory's MASTER file then click the Open button.

   
   This path will also be added to the plug-in. Once you have added all your directories, click on the entries individually (to highlight them) and then click the Retrieve symbols button.

   

   AmiBroker will add the symbol entries to its own data structure (the data remains in the MetaStock directory).
7. Click the OK button to exit the MetaStock data plug-in screen.

   

8. Click the OK button to exit the Database settings screen.

   

9. Click All to display your list of symbols.

   

10. Click a symbol to display a chart.

    

11. If you wish to add new MetaStock directories at a later date use the Database settings entry in the File drop-down menu and click the Configure button again to bring up the Add folder screen.
