SAVE INDICATORS AS TEMPLATES

EzyChart allows you to personalise your indicators by changing the properties then saving these changes as the new default.
For example, the factory default for the Moving Average indicator is a 20-bar Simple Moving Average calculated on the Close price. The number of bars; type of moving average and price are properties that can be changed by the user and then saved as the new default. However this will only save one set of properties for the indicator. There may be times when you want separate configurations for the same indicator. This is where templates come in.

In this example I will create three moving averages with different properties and save them as a new indicator template.

To save three Moving Average indicators as a template:
  1. Open at chart in EzyChart.
  2. Add the Moving Average indicator three times, by selecting it from the Indicators drop-down menu on the Indicators tab of the ribbon.

    EzyChart: Open three Moving Averages
These three indicators will be directly on top of each other on your chart.

  3. Click on the Properties button in the top left-corner of the chart panel to display the Properties window.

    EzyChart: Select Properties

  4. You will see the three Moving Averages listed in the tree on the left-side of the window.

EzyChart: Properties for the Three Moving Averages

Select each Moving Average separately and change the properties on the right-side of the window. For this example, I'm going to change the properties of these moving averages to:

MA Count Price Method Line Colour
    1 14 Close Exponential Blue
    2 33 Close Exponential Green
    3 200 Median Simple Purple

  5. When you've finished changing these properties, click the Select button to exit the Properties window.

    EzyChart: Select these Properties

  6. Click inside the Chart panel so the four black handles appear in the corners.

EzyChart: Save the Active indicators to a template
Select the Save Active button from the Templates group on the Advanced tab of the ribbon.

  7. The Save Chart Template window will appear, displaying all the elements on your chart. Type the name of your template in the Name box. This will be the name that will appear in the Custom Indicators drop-down boxes on the Advanced tab of the ribbon.

EzyChart: Enter a name for this indicator template

  8. Use the default icon or choose one by clicking on the icon drop-down box and selecting one from the menu.

    EzyChart: Choose an icon

  9. Check that all the elements you want included in this template are ticked. I only want to save the three moving averages so I can use them as an overlay so I've de-selected the Panel and Candlestick box.

EzyChart: De-select the items that are not required
Click the Save button. Your template is now saved.
